Happy New Year Everyone, I’ve emailing you as a bit of a community outreach story.  A PV park volunteer has contacted me to help him draw closure to a story from late last year.  As you are aware PV allows archery hunting inside of the park.  I’ve met a few of these individuals and have always been impressed with their commitment to safety and ethics.  Archery has its pros and cons, in the case of PV park it creates a safe way to control the deer population.  Sometimes a deer is hit but runs in areas which make finding the deer difficult.  Sometimes deer are hit but not killed.  That’s were this story begins.

On November 25th,  a 8 point buck was shot by one of PV parks authorized hunters.  This individual I can assure you gave due diligence in locating the buck.  Could not find the deer despite searching for 5 hours.  Sometimes deer are hit but not killed, perhaps the deer was not killed.

Several days later the parts of the deer are found, fully harvested by someone taking the main body parts and antlers.  With much respect for someone to make full use of our natural resources it is difficult to fault someone for doing this.  Perhaps the due diligence would be to post a note on the board saying, hey, found a shot deer, contact me for information.

The opportunity still exists to make things right, the archery hunter would like to recover the antlers for this deer.  The antlers have meaning as the deer happened to be one that was targeted over several months.  To the harvester, the antlers have less meaning.

If someone would like to forward the antlers back to the hunter, it would be greatly appreciated.  You could put them on top of the bulletin board over at the park, others if you see them on the board, please email the group and we can reach out to the hunter.

Thanks, Mike
