Hello pvlib community,
I'm Syed Muhammad Qasim a Python developer interested in contributing to pvlib through Google Summer of Code 2026. I've been exploring the documentation and am specifically interested in the "Add to the pvlib example gallery" project. I've set up the development environment locally and am going through existing examples. To start contributing, I'd like to work on a small example or documentation fix. Could someone point me to: 1. Which example gaps are most needed right now? 2. Any good first issues for beginners? Looking forward to learning from all of you! Best regards, Syed Muhammad Qasim GitHub: @syedmqasim029

Hi Syed

Thank you for your interest in GSoC with pvlib.

As our GSoC page mentions, we are unlikely to accept proposals from anyone without some background in solar energy. This is simply due to the fact that it is very hard to contribute to pvlib without a good understanding of solar. Our aim with GSoC is not to teach solar energy, but rather to educate people with a background in solar energy on how to contribute to open source software.

With that said, if you have a background in solar, we'd be thrilled to discuss the potential for a GSoC application. If that's the case, feel free to contact me directly (ara...@dtu.dk) as I will likely be the lead mentor this year.

Cheers,
Adam
