Hi all,

Does anyone here have any experience working with the U.S. NIFC RAWS weather station data for PV modeling? I had no clue until now that irradiance was one of their measurements but I can't seem to find a ton of information on pyranometer models, calibration practices, etc. Up here in Alaska we have a real lack of long-term historical ground measurements, even just GHI, so these would be super useful for benchmarking models of some of our more remote systems.

Thanks!

I haven't because I haven't been able to find access to the data. Have you found a means to download these data?

Starting here

I can eventually navigate to a “Data Lister” page for an individual station that requires a login for data over 30 days old. There’s an info page that says:

Access to WRCC historical raw data is limited to the 30 day period prior to
the current date. Access to raw data prior to the last 30 days may be granted
to funding agencies. To help us secure the needed resources to provide this
data, we must track the use of our systems and charge a small fee. Please see
this link for information on data pricing. To place an order or for any questions,
please contact us at 775-674-7010 or email wr...@dri.edu.

Then there’s
https://weather.nifc.gov/ords/prd/f?p=107:11500:10535513756590:::::, but the terms of use there seem very prohibitive, so I didn’t go further to see what can be accessed.
