Dear Askamshat,

Within the framework of the EU-funded CACTUS project, several performance datasets have recently been published as open-access resources. These datasets correspond to SCADA monitoring data collected from different locations and climatic conditions worldwide.

TECNALIA (Spain), as a partner of the CACTUS project, contributed a performance dataset specifically designed for testing and validating failure detection and diagnosis (FDD) algorithms. Check the following links with the associated poster and published dataset.

The dataset includes continuous monitoring data from a set of PV modules composed of:

  • Four defective modules retrieved from dismantled Spanish PV plants,

  • Two new modules in which failure modes were artificially introduced,

  • One new reference module.

The combination of visual inspection and electroluminescence characterization revealed several degradation mechanisms in the defective modules, including electrical circuit corrosion, interconnect ribbon breaks, solar cell cracks, and encapsulant yellowing. In addition, failure modes were artificially simulated in two new modules by increasing the series resistance (RSERIE) and decreasing the shunt resistance (RSHUNT), respectively.

Individual maximum power point (MPP) trackers recorded the MPP voltage and current of each PV module every minute, while an IV tracer measured the IV curve of each module every five minutes. Environmental and operating conditions were synchronously monitored, including module temperature, air temperature, plane-of-array (POA) irradiance, global horizontal irradiance (GHI), and additional meteorological parameters.

The released dataset does not include the complete set of collected data at the highest monitoring frequency. Please also note that, although the CACTUS project has officially finished, the monitoring activities are still ongoing and significantly larger datasets are currently available.

We remain open to potential collaborations and data-sharing initiatives with partners interested in developing high-impact scientific publications and joint research activities in this field.
