Rhode Island’s Old State House will reopen this month in time to celebrate the passage of the Act of Renunciation.
The act, passed on May 4, 1776, cut Rhode Island’s legal ties with King George III.
There will be a ribbon-cutting and open house at the Old State House, located at 150 Benefit St. in Providence, at 2:30 p.m. Monday [presumably today?] with remarks from dignitaries.
An open house will run from 3 to 6 p.m.
