The puzzlescript games database aims to list all puzzlescript games ever made. As of today, it is (very likely) complete, with more than 1350 titles - and has become the largest online list of puzzlescript games.

Now the hope is that this community will keep adding to this list of puzzlescript games so it never falls out of date - because adding a game is super easy (single click, no typing involved).

So, if you make a new puzzlescript game, please consider adding it to the list. The list is automatically sorted with the most recent games on top.

If you played a new puzzlescript game made by someone else, please consider adding it too, so other people can discover it!

Thanks!

Wow, you've got stuff in here I didn't even remember I had made! What a neat resource!

Is it possible to:

-- edit entries? One entry is listed under my real name (Jamie Perconti) and the rest of mine are under the short version of my handle (Nut), even though they all have the same in-game author. It would be nice to have them all live together. Also the domain my two Ludum Dare games are on needs to be whitelisted.

-- add notes/supplementary links to entries? My two Ludum Dare games are supposed to come with beepbox.co-based background music through a small engine hack I did that is no longer possible to make work because beepbox pages don't autoplay anymore (And honestly it's probably better to let the player control the music anyway, rather than just having it in the background of the page. The loop could easily get annoying after a while). And it might make sense generally to link to the LD pages for games released there?

-- filter the list? It's pretty unwieldy at this size...

Thanks! This is a cool project and I'm glad it exists.

Jamie

Hey! Thanks for putting this together.

One of mine seems to be missing (Hey You! Stop Blocking the Laser!). I looked for a simple form to submit it, but didn’t find one. Is there only the bookmarklet? On the other hand, two entries for me are really just tech demos. Is there some way to tag them as such? If I change the title to “[Tech Demo] Whatever” in their gist, will you pick up the update?

It’s not obvious what “Added pre-completion” means. For games published with gist, you can get created_at and updated_at from the game’s gist, though those dates aren’t necessarily going to be meaningful in all cases. (you can see from that link that I sat on HY!SBTL for three years)

Also, I don’t have any font with ⯎ on this computer, so it’s just showing as an error for me. It’s a recent Mac, so maybe another symbol would be better? I think ◊ is well-supported, maybe also ✧.

Apparently ✧ is not a good bet either:

Hi Jamie and Chris,

Thank you for your feedback! I wasn't expecting any replies soon as the mailing list had been a quite calm lately!

I've manually edited/grouped the mentioned entries, added the missing game (it turns out it wasn't the only game in my selected games list which had been missing) and hid/edited the demos. Also the lozenge symbol has been updated as suggested.

Many questions/ideas :)
I'll try to go through them all one by one:
- editing submitted entries : at the moment, the database records game info at the moment of submission so changing the game has no effect - any edits must be done manually. So it would be cool to let other people edit the info (or request updated info), perhaps via the suggested submission form (good idea).

With the submission form, it would be also easy to:
-- add notes to entries;
-- add supplementary links;
-- mark games as demos; (currently most demos and unfinished games are being gathered in a separate list, which is not displayed so I hid the demo);

Also:
- getting info from the github API: may be a good option for the future, especially to get the game dates;
- "added pre-completion": this means the games were added before the database was deemed complete (earlier this month) and is not very useful - if the game dates are actually added they are expected to replace this placeholder.

Finally:
- filter the list: What kinds of filters do you think would be important?

Getting some weird overlapping of the documentation with the database itself (you can see it partially obscured behind it

)

Thanks for the bug report! Seems to be a Safari-specific issue - I'll look deeper into it to try to find the cause (probably something in the page CSS).

Hi Jamie, Chris and Stephen,

I'm happy to announce that your suggestions were implemented and the overlapping bug should be fixed (a page cache refresh may be needed to see the most recent page version).

It's now easy to filter the database by title or author (plus specific filtered views may be shared with a link). Game entries can also be submitted or edited too on the page (instructions there). There's a notes field which currenly adds labels or ad-hoc information.

Now the database has a greater chance of growing on its own!

This is really impressive! It seems that it's pulling out all games saved as gists via the PuzzleScript editor. To assume that all of those are proper games or even demos is assumine  alot though. There are now some +20 ttles with my name there, out of which 4 or 5 are even somewhat palyable, rest not realy even demos.

Hi Jere,

Thanks! Indeed there was a first pass with the goal of being as complete as possible, so some of the entries (code examples, unfinished demos and prototypes) didn't actually belong to the puzzlescript games database, whose main focus is on finished games - so thanks for pointing this out.

All other entries are now migrating to a sister puzzlescript examples database, whose focus is on components or examples (plus unfinished games as well) which could be useful to all puzzlescript makers!
Meanwhile I've migrated most of your demos already - please let me know if anything is misplaced!

Hi all,

This is a small update to let you know that the puzzlescript database has how surpassed 1500 titles!

As I'm not updating it diligently any longer (so no claims of completeness) it is very fortunate that a few people from this community have been stepping in and adding titles themselves (using the handy one-click bookmarklet) or editing entries on the spot. Many thanks and please keep on!

Also, if you made a game in 2020, not yet listed, please don't forget to add it!

Finally, a small tip: you may link to specific search results within the table by appending ?search=[search terms] to the page url. Search terms can be a particular author, year or keyword (e.g. ?search=sokoban or ?search=2020) and may be combined.

Yeah just checking now and it doesn't work for me either. I get this initially:

And then when I hard-reload the page with ctrl+shift+R it briefly works and then runs out of memory:

Pedro's site has never worked reliably for me unfortunately :(
