NYS DOH "EMS on Tour" Initiative for Sunday 5/19/19

This year, Director Ryan Greenberg and the NYSDOH Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems are starting a statewide initiative called “EMS on Tour” during EMS Week (May 19-25, 2019) which encourages EMS agencies to take their rigs out into their community and open their doors to teach the members of the community about EMS.

DOH is are asking agencies to participate in “EMS on Tour” on May 19, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM. EMS Agencies are asked to go into the community to a popular location such as a local park, shopping center or local event venue so they can interact with the greatest number of community members.

"EMS on Tour" gives agencies an opportunity to inform and educate local community members about the capabilities and importance of EMS, teach their community about the capabilities of EMS providers, see the different EMS equipment we carry and see what’s inside the ambulance. This is a great way for agencies to interact with their community and get them involved by teaching hands free CPR, how to stop the bleed or how best to help EMS providers when a community member calls EMS for a family member.

The Bureau of EMS & Trauma Services is working on creating advertising materials that agencies can use to help celebrate and promote the day. As the materials become available DOH will share them with you all. In the meantime, DOH asks that you please start discussing with your agency members on how you would like to get out into your community on May 19 for "EMS on Tour".
