Putnam County Emergency Operations Center: Monitoring Situation
County Situation & Actions:
As provided for by Chapter 252 of Florida Statues and by Putnam County Ordinance No. 96-14,
on May 13, 2008 Putnam County Board of County Commissioners issued Proclamation 2008-33 that declared a state of local emergency and issued Emergency Order 2008-32 regarding open burning.
On May 20, 2008, Putnam County Board of County Commissioners extended the local state of emergency proclamation 2008-33 and extended emergency order 2008-32 regarding open burning. Both were extended for seven days. The local state of emergency and executive order is valid through May 27, 2008.
Fire Weather/Red Flag Warning:
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.
Relative humidity’s will drop to critical levels this afternoon and combine with windy conditions to create the fire danger. Relative humidity’s will bottom out between 30 and 35 percent with sustained southwest winds at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. Wednesday...relative humidity’s are forecast to bottom out around 40 percent.
