Professor Bobby Tuazon will be in Seattle to discuss the 2010 Philippine elections and the challenges for the new Aquino presidency. Discussion will be followed by a workshop on media advocacy.

Professor Bobby Tuazon is presently Director for Policy Studies of the Center for People
Empowerment in Governance (CenPEG). CenPEG
is a public
policy center established shortly before the May 2004
elections
to help promote people empowerment in governance and
advocating
the democratic representation of the poor. It had recently developed analysis of campaign issues and candidates ahead of the 2010 May elections from a progressive standpoint.
Professor Tuazon was former Chair of the Political
Science Program, University of the Philippines (UP) in Manila, where he
was selected as Most Outstanding Faculty member and co-author of 8 books. He is the founding editor of Bulatlat.com, a progressive alternative online news publication. He has been a guest political analyst of various Philippine media as well as foreign news agencies. He also was a co-convener of the Automated Election System
Watch (AES Watch), a broad coalition of citizens poll watchdogs ahead of the 2010 Philippine elections.
