WENDY YOU ARE A STAR********************
Top of the Group.
I’m afraid I have not got round to getting the book back from the library and finishing it and don’t think I ever will.
It’s not like me to give up but a found it too hard going and not my sort of thing at all.
Jilly, if you are out with your veg I hope they are starting to peep through the cold ground.
I’m gardening too, my tomatoes are ripening fast and the crab apples and plums are falling off the trees.
So I have been making jelly and chutney and giving most of it away, there is only so much you can eat in one family.
I know we are all busy but love to read and I had an idea. Why don’t we all make a list of 3 or 4 books we have read, reading or want to read and everyone can pick a title if they like the sound of it, read it and then review it.
It would take the pressure off someone picking a book and us all having to get hold of a copy and finish it by a certain time.
This way we could all keep in touch and there would be no pressure.
Ali and Thomas stayed with us for a week in January and Ali will be in Rotorua next week so I am hoping to catch up with her there. And also Debs who lives in Rotorua.
At Easter Charlotte my daughter and I are flying south to stay with Ali again and checking our the University.
Ali also told me the Gina is expecting so our book club membership is growing with the next generation.
Best wishes to you all in the UK, the snow looked beautiful but no good if you have to go out in it.
Di
Glad to hear that you are all doing OK over there and big congratulations to Gina. Anyone know when the event is?
I think we all agreed on just making suggestions on books for now? I have just finished a really good one by an author who I had not come across before, Linwood Barclay. The book is calle "No time for Goodbye".
As you all know I am not good at writing reviews but this is what I put on my blog:
"No Time For Goodbye" is a fast paced psychological thriller that had me turning the pages and unable to put it down!
In 1983, a family disappears in the middle of the night, leaving their 14 year old daughter alone in the house. 25 years later, Cynthia Archer remains determined to find out what happened to them, an obsession which often strains her relationship with her patient husband Terry (from whose perspective the story is told). I really enjoyed this, my first Linwood Barclay book. It is written in an easy flowing style and hooks you in right from the start. Just imagine being 14 years old, coming home from school and finding your entire family are gone. It's quite chilling in places. I didn't guess the plot at all which is always a bonus. I am going to look out for Linwood Barclays. Hope at least one other person will read it and let me know what they think.
Take care everyone.
Jilly.
PS Di, if you have any chutney or jelly recipes that you could pass on that would be great. Despite having nothing much really growing so far, we are still hoping that when the summer comes we will have big gluts that we can turn into all sorts of goodies.
PPS If any of you want to be able to see more of what we are up to then you can view photos and other ramblings on my blog: http://jillys.multiply.com It would be so nice to see some of you there. Wendy is already there too.
Incidentally, just for the record, it is all Ali's fault that I now have to spend so much time at my computer rambling on in a blog! |
