Hi Everyone,
It sound like we are all thinking along the same
lines about The History of Love.
We I first started reading it I didn't think I
would like it or even bother to finish it, but I did. Once I got into it I
wanted to know what was happening next to carried on. I found it very sad but
then I think a lot of old peoples lives are sad, lonely and to them pointless.
So many missed oppotunities that are only realised with age. It was well
written but confusing, most of it made sense in the end. I am glad I have read
it, it is not a book that I would recommend anyone to read.
The Holy City
I would not normally read books on the War, I have
a total block when it come to War and senseless violence, James Bond is
enough for me.
The Holy City is a great book, I have learned so
much about Clydeside and the suffering of its people and the lives of those who
lived in the area. It made me really think about what it was like for my mother
to live through the war and being evacuated from London to
Kent
I have now read
Second Sight
Daisy"s Wars
Bloody Mary
Meg Henderson is an easy autor to read, some of the
characters have similar traits, lives etc but her book are worth
reading.
If you want to read more start with Second Sight as
Daisy's Wars is about another person but they are interwoven and it would spoil
Second Sight.
Cat I have requested your book and am waiting for
the Library to ring me, I haven't seen it for sale in NZ or on there
internet.
Happy reading
Di
