I have Samba running, and I can see the Darwin box on the network, but
I can't authenticate.

OTOH, the iMac also running Samba not only appears on the net, but I
authenticate to it just fine.

There's an 'smbpasswd' util, but it would appear to have been
deprecated in favor of stuffing the data into some netinfo db.

Does anyone know how to either sync the user logon password with their
samba password, or, know the netinfo keys for creating the password?
Darwin 8 provides 'nicl' to stuff things into the netinfo database,
that's how the installer's 'adduser' script work (not a separate
script actually, just part of the 'rc.cdrom' script). I also have
ncutil, which might be able to do it, although it took about a day and
a half to get ncutil to set a static IP address for my Darwin box.
