The blog-o-sphere is filled with inspiring women, doing inspiring things.  So over and over again you've heard that you will get so many more no's than yes's, when you are doing something out of the ordinary, and as Jess Lively always says you need to "just keep going." I've always heard them, but I never HEARD them until I experienced it myself.

Going into stores to sell jewelry is definitely stepping outside my comfort zone.  Even though I'm quite a talker, I've never been super outgoing. I mean, once you start a conversation with me I will talk your ear off...but up until then I'm kind of quiet.  So, the fact that I have to force myself to be outgoing and confidant to take my career where I want it to go is SCARY.  Sometime I think I should get a real job, just to avoid walking into stores in an attempt to sell my jewelry.  BUT I know that I have to "just keep going."

So, in case you have heard what the previous entrepreneurs before me have said, but you didn't HEAR it: you will get WAY more "no's" than "yes's"...and that's okay...because you will get yes's if you "just keep going."

MOST of the time when I walk into a store, I meet the most skeptical people.  Most "no's" I receive come from people who haven't even seen my jewelry.  I had a buyer tell me she doesn't want to see my jewelry because most independent designers are two pricey for her store (imagine if I mentioned the ethical part to her.)  Meanwhile I have $12 necklaces selling like hotcakes in a shop in Lakeview...her loss.

It's so easy to get discouraged in the first few years of entrepreneurship.  It's easy to look at seasoned business women, and wonder why your business doesn't quite compare. It's easy to look at these people, and not consider the years they have taken to get where they are, and the "no's" that they have most likely received.  But don't listen to me...I'm in the first few year's of entrepreneurship, and I am with you...hearing a million "no's" and doing happy dance's when I get that "yes." Heck I even happy dance for the "maybe's."  Watch this video by Marie Forleo...she really drove the concept home.

Have a lovely week!
