This is a maintenance release, featuring compatibility with Octave 4.3 (the current development version), so it's most useful for people who are running that version of Octave and want to build pure-octave themselves from source. (But of course it still works with older Octave versions, too.)

Please note that the (recently released) Octave 4.2 misbehaves with pure-octave (upstream bug, causing segfaults in octave_eval). Until that gets fixed upstream, you can either stick to Octave 4.0.3 for the time being (that's what I'm doing on Arch right now), or update straight to the development version (4.3, Arch users can find that as octave-hg in the AUR). Both 4.0 and 4.3 work fine with pure-octave 0.9.
