Hey guys,

Up until this year I was enrolled in an Engineering course that gave me SSH access to mentor.ics.purdue.edu and several other servers.  Unfortunately, that access seems to have been cut since I completed the course.  Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I've been using SFTP to access the files on my H drive.  How have you guys been accessing your Purdue home directory from Ubuntu?

Regards,
Jon

In the panel, go to places -> connect to server. From there, select "Windows Share". The server is rosetta.ics.purdue.edu, leave "Share" blank, the Folder is your username, put in your username for User Name, and the Domain name is onepurdue. It should ask you for your password, which is just your onepurdue password. You can add a bookmark if you want.

Also, for SFTP / SSHFS access, there's picket.ics.purdue.edu.

I believe \\offcampus.ics.purdue.edu also works. Note that the request has to come from a Purdue IP, which means you either have to VPN into the network or do some trickery with SSH port-forwarding with a Purdue-connected computer.

expert.ics.purdue.edu is set up more or less the same as mentor, and I
think anyone with an ITaP account has access.

I think the specific server you should use is listed on the ITAP website.

Go to this page and log in with your ITAP/onepurdue/career/etc. account:

https://www.purdue.edu/apps/account/Account

Very near the bottom of the "Accounts" list, my account says: "Unix Server expert.ics.purdue.edu"  If yours lists something different, you should use that server instead.  I think expert.ics.purdue.edu is primarily for graduate students, and that undergraduates may have a different server listed there instead.

Mine says expert.ics.purdue.edu as well. I’m pretty sure at one point both were available, but ITaP may have taken mentor offline or something. I used to have access to it as well, but don’t anymore.
