Hi all,

i tried installing lynx (terminal web browser) on the ubuntu lab machines. Was able to compile it.

But while running it, it says:

Configuration file "/usr/local/etc/lynx.cfg" is not available.

It definitely searches for file in /usr/local where we dont have access with our department login ....

Can anyone suggest a work around ?

Hi,

Are you running with ./configure --prefix=$HOME?

Normally, that puts things into your home directory instead of root folders.

As an easy fix, try "lynx -cfg=~/myconfig.lyx"

See "man lynx" for details...
