Did anyone here get a Graduate Assistantship as part of their
Admission package?

Hi guys,

This is Muthu from India. I applied to R2 and got an admit.

i called up the Purdue guys yest and I was told that If we do not
get a GA within 2 weeks of our admit letter, it s most likely that we ll
not get it at all.

What surprises me is that i v not come across even one who has got a
scholarship/GA. Does it mean that Purdue has not given GA to anyone yet even
if they are stating otherwise. A test of patience?????

Muthu.

After talking to a few folks, it looks like that the university and
department have sufferred and are still sufferring from severe lack of
funding due to the general economy and lack of investment from the
industry.

The job scene is not that nice either, with only about half [among
internationals, of course], guessing after talking to some folks,
having some kind of an offer at this time.

What is everyone doing to prepare financially? Loans? From India or
US?
