Integrating Motorola Droid with Eclipse for testing

Hello,
I am working on an Android App and want to test it on Motorola Droid,
Model MOTA855. It is a new phone and is not activated with a mobile
phone number. To initialize the phone, it appears that we need to
activate the phone with a Verizon phone number/service - it asks us to
enter the 10 digit mobile number in order to proceed with the set up.
Does anyone know how to could get around this and activate the phone
to test our app?

If you haven't solved the issue yet, here is a link that will help. After you complete the steps in the link, if you set the phone to airplane mode you won't get any more pesky reminders to activate your phone. Wifi works fine with airplane mode on.
