Scholarship goal for Endowment

Hey everyone!

Or scholarship is currently at $16,239.31

We need to be at $25k by Dec 31st to turn it into an endowment fund. With the $1600 from the mask order and our current bank account balance of approx $5k we are only about $2k short. After dec 31st the entry point increases to $100k

Does ANYONE know anyone that would be interested in donating a decent amount of money before the 31st???

I think if we purchase some amazon gift cards (with our dues sharing funds that are for running events) and then run an eventbrite fundraiser from now until the end of the year. Then at the end we raffle off the giftcards to random people that donated. Maybe do like 5-10ish...I need to check how much $$ we have left on dues sharing for events. Should be a decent amount.

Thoughts??

I would help from a donation standpoint.

 

2k is such a shortfall to get to an endowment fund which I know we’ve been going after for a while. That would be awesome to hit.

I shared the link on my personal FB page and followed suit and threw in a $100.00 contribution as well!

 

I also hit step 1 by sharing the event on the Purdue page (as an admin of the page and) as suggested below.

We are already over $1200 - very awesome!!

Some things to prep for when we set up the endowment...Maria from the Alumni Assoc said we can word this in a way that is as flexible as we want so it can change later on. If you have thoughts or questions please respond. 

  • Name of the donor (formal name of the club)
  • Name(s) of the signatories for the agreement
  • Name of the scholarship
  • Selection criteria
  • Amount the donor wants to contribute

My thoughts:
  • Purdue Alumni Club of Colorado
  • Roy Hobbs & Jim Vasil (and anyone else on the board that wants to)
  • Purdue Alumni Club of Colorado Scholarship Endowment (maybe this is too long?)
  • Purdue student from Colorado in good standing with the university and a 3.0 or higher GPA? We usually like the DFA choose the recipient in the past..maybe we can get a list of students and their info to pick from (will be especially useful if we award $$ to multiple students)
  • For the amount I think we can start off with what we have been doing $1500 to one student, but then leave it open to expansion as more funds are earned..not sure of the best way to word that

WE HIT OUR GOAL!!

If you still havent donated there is still a little time left on the event, any extra donations will be greatly appreciated. After the new year I will get amazon cards and such sorted and raffled out.

    I think all the info you have listed sounds good. The only thing we could change is removing Endowment from the Scholarship name to shorten it.

    I think removing the endowment makes sense.
