Hello all . . . as mentioned, I have reached out to Factotum Brewhouse located in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Denver at 3845 Lipan Street, Denver, CO 80211. The brother/sister owners have been a long-time client and friends of mine. They are also Indiana folk and have support our club over the years with very generous silent auction items and other opportunities. They also hold their own monthly euchre tournaments and would be able to draw those folks into our event.


I've checked the Broncos home game schedule to stay away from those days, backed up the time a bit as requested by a few last Sunday, and came up with Sunday, October 20th. 11:30-noon networking and noon to 3pm tournament play. If you disagree with this time window, it's our call of course.


Laura has confirmed that October 20th, during those times, works with their calendar so it's a go if we would like that also. She asked that we include them as a host on the Facebook event so it appears on their FB page and will be viewed by their following.


Wanted to share that with the group and get your thoughts. Everyone have a great day!

Another idea was doing it on saturday when we have a bye week...but thats pretty soon sept 21.

Im ok with oct 20 but I worry NFL will keep people away. Factotum does have TVs though so maybe it will work out well!!

I am meeting Laura this coming Monday for happy hour and will pick her brain on how she runs her monthly euchre days. I'll provide a report back after. In the meantime, be thinking about that date.

Thanks Danella!  Pete and I went to one of those a year or two ago.  If I remember correctly, it was similar to how Pete ran it this year.  It would be great to tap into her network!

Another date we could consider for this is 11/16 since that is our bye week in football. Not sure if that would be better or 10/20...with NFL on that sunday it could keep people away but they do have TVs and could put games on? I really dont know on that...open to input!!

Let me check with Factotum to see if 11/16 is even an option before we spend time considering. I always thought we liked to stay away from Saturdays since people head up to ski. Not a biggie?


I'll let you know. I worry about getting too close to Thanksgiving but it's still a bit after this. Stay tuned

Either of our dates is fine with Factotum. I’d encourage staying out of November UNLESS you guys think a Saturday would be more fun and ppl would stay out longer after and network and enjoy some beers.

We really would like some more input (and hopefully attendance!) from the rest of the board on this. To summarize:
  • Sunday 10/20 or Sat 11/16 at Factotum Brewing in the Highlands
  • Sunday risks - NFL games may keep people away? Nice hiking/fall colors weather could keep people away?
  • Sunday pros - Ski season hasn't started yet, and Factotum has TVs for NFL
  • Saturday risks - ski season will have started, but its early season so many may not be going up yet...but do hardcore skiers even come to many of our events?
  • Saturday pros - no NFL, bye week for Purdue, getting a bit colder for hiking and not quite prime skiing yet maybe
I really dont have much of an opinion either way. I think we need to determine what the Euchre crowd would more likely enjoy and show up for...im not too sure of that demographic since I only went to one of the two previous events.

Is there a way to do a quick survey in survey monkey to determine best day. I would think Sunday would be best, since you can watch the NFL games as well as play - and may encourage those not interested in Euchre to attend as well.

I'm torn - I can tell you that if an NFL game is on - I'm going to have a tough time focusing on Euchre but agree with Dan that it would bring in "more" from a networking perspective.

 

I can create a Doodle (voting panel) if we’re really interested in a consensus or we just choose it and push it.

 

I vote Saturday as well – I think it has more pros and less cons than the Sunday option.

I talked to folks as I worked my way around the tables at our last one and it was mentioned that if we kept it on a Sunday to please move the time back. It was mentioned it was hard to think about hanging around after to network when it ended after 4pm on a Sunday. Makes it hard to party too . . . LOL I agree Saturday would make it easier to hang out after and network.

We really would like some more input (and hopefully attendance!) from the rest of the board on this. To summarize:

  *   Sunday 10/20 or Sat 11/16 at Factotum Brewing in the Highlands
  *   Sunday risks - NFL games may keep people away? Nice hiking/fall colors weather could keep people away?
  *   Sunday pros - Ski season hasn't started yet, and Factotum has TVs for NFL
  *   Saturday risks - ski season will have started, but its early season so many may not be going up yet...but do hardcore skiers even come to many of our events?
  *   Saturday pros - no NFL, bye week for Purdue, getting a bit colder for hiking and not quite prime skiing yet maybe

I really dont have much of an opinion either way. I think we need to determine what the Euchre crowd would more likely enjoy and show up for...im not too sure of that demographic since I only went to one of the two previous events.

Subject: Euchre Tournament #3 - Factotum Brewhouse


Hello all . . . as mentioned, I have reached out to Factotum Brewhouse located in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Denver at 3845 Lipan Street, Denver, CO 80211. The brother/sister owners have been a long-time client and friends of mine. They are also Indiana folk and have support our club over the years with very generous silent auction items and other opportunities. They also hold their own monthly euchre tournaments and would be able to draw those folks into our event.


I've checked the Broncos home game schedule to stay away from those days, backed up the time a bit as requested by a few last Sunday, and came up with Sunday, October 20th. 11:30-noon networking and noon to 3pm tournament play. If you disagree with this time window, it's our call of course.


Laura has confirmed that October 20th, during those times, works with their calendar so it's a go if we would like that also. She asked that we include them as a host on the Facebook event so it appears on their FB page and will be viewed by their following.


Wanted to share that with the group and get your thoughts. Everyone have a great day!

I think I need to update the descriptions on the ticket sales and fb event page - Peter/Jim can you please take a look at let me know? I dont think we have set teams from what I saw at the last event...im not sure how to explain how this works/how winners are determined. Please let me know as soon as you can and I will update the event info.

I know nothing about how the game/tourney works so thats all you haha (or Jim if he can join). I think previously we gave prizes to the top winner or two? For the networking side of things (and also all tourney participants) we raffled off a few prizes as well. Everyone got one ticket that we raffled...people could buy more if they wanted as well.

Laura/Factotum has their monthly Euchre tomorrow night so she's going to recruit some folks then. In her FB post the other day, she invited anybody wanting to warm up on Thursday before our event Saturday. Hopefully that will generate some last minute ticket sales.

I think we ended up at around the same amount of people as last time 18ish. Always great to hang out at Factotum!! Jim/Pete what were our fundraising totals??
