Hey all,

The new season is just about to begin!  I updated the spreadsheet with the current football schedule.  Our first game is going to be Friday night, August 30.  I won't be able to host the game watch, since I'll be at the game, but can someone else? 

Also, please go through and mark down which games you're available to host!  Our expectation is that everyone can host at least one.  I've put my name down for everyone where I'll be in attendance, and can fill in wherever needed.

I will be out of town for the first game as well (wedding) and will be at Purdue for the second game. 

I would like to start doing a 50/50 raffle at game watches in an effort to raise money for the scholarship so we can hit our goal of turning it into an endowment this year. So whoever hosts will need to run that. We have raffle tickets in the lockers by the front door so it should be easy to do. Cash/venmo would be easiest but we can look into getting a credit card reader if people have issues with that.

We have done a bunch of regular raffles in the past and not gotten a license and according to that we should have...so I wouldnt really worry about that. I know other Big10 clubs do these as well.

What do you all think for pricing on the raffle tickets? 1 for $4, 4 for $15? Or something else like that?

That makes sense to me, but I would keep it rounded at 5's, that way we don't have to deal with ones.  Also, maybe doing 5/20 since a $20 bill would be more likely?

We had 50 there on Saturday.  I just created the FB event for this week.  It's a night game, and we'll be doing another 50/50 raffle.  I did the math, and we're only about 4k away from hitting our mark!!

We had 75 for MN, 50 for PSU, and 15 for MD.


It is very easy to host...all you have to do is show up and let us know how many people are there. Maybe chat with folks if you feel outgoing. I would like to continue doing the 50/50 raffles as well but Jim or I can help and show you how to run those.

Breakfast club game - should we do this Oct 26th or Nov 2nd?? Id like to send a newsletter out sometime this week or next to hopefully get some numbers back up since we won last weekend.

Agree.  We could also do it 11/9.  Not necessarily a need to tie it to Halloween.

Also, I updated the basketball schedule and put our game watches in yellow.  Depending how the season goes, we may want to add a few more big ten ones in late.  I'm recommending we do our holiday toy drive/ugly xmas sweater party on 12/4.  The only other option is 12/21, but there's a chance a lot of people are gone for the holidays.  The 12/4 game is against #11, and I think we could make that gamewatch huge!  Thoughts?

Also, I updated the basketball schedule and put our game watches in yellow. Depending how the season goes, we may want to add a few more big ten ones in late. I am setting up the game watch for this wed right now. Heads up to everyone our holiday party game watch is set for 12/21 against butler..its a 1230 game so hopefully turnout is ok. Not many options this month for later games that we could do with the holiday party.

Hey all! 

I just created facebook events for the rest of our basketball games this year (except tournaments).  Our attendance has been pretty poor so far to start this season.  Please make sure you're inviting all your friends, and do your best to attend as well!  We only have about 8 in the next 2 months, so not that many!  As we're trying to raise enough money for our scholarship fund, we'll need help, and the best way to do that is attendance.  If we get bigger crowds, we can easily do the raffles.  Help us end this year strong!

Had about 30 tonight!!  Next game is Wednesday.  If we win that, Saturday (against iu) has the potential to be fun!  I’ll be boosting the fb event.  Please everyone do their best to attend and get as many people there as possible!

HI gang! Sorry been on the road and just got back. 

Looking at the basketball schedule for an off day to do Euchre/networking I'm seeing the following. Let me know if I'm wrong and if you have any preference. I'd say the 16th is too close to market it but the other days will be good. I meant to get this finalized before I left town but . . . life happened.

Thanks Jim! Just invited my list. Facebook is making it harder to invite lists now...I had a Denver friend list I could select all on and that no longer shows up. You can do past event invites but when people decline that past event then I dont think they get the invite to the new event. Pretty annoying.

Thank you!  I also noticed (had a couple people comment) that they're not getting the invites.  I think part of that is due to them following the old group, not the page.  As we create events, please share it to the group as well as the page.
