My ancestor Elizabeth Parcell(sp?) was probably born in Essex County, NJ bet. 1745-1748. She married Josiah Frost on 1 Mar 1768 in New Providence, Essex County, NJ. They later settled in Loudin County, VA for a couple of years and eventually settled in western MD around Mt. Savage in what is now called Frostburg, MD. One of their sons is recognized as the actual founder of Frostburg. I believe her parents to be Nicholas Parcell, b. abt 1720, d. abt 1767 in NJ and a Rachel Westcott or Rachel Swain, having found info to make either of these women a likely candidate for being her mother. Nicholas' parents were Thomas Parcell, b abt 1701, d. abt 1769 in NY and Acey/Arey Remington. He was baptized in the New Amsterdam Dutch Reformed Church 26 Jan 1701. As you can see I have bits and pieces of information on this lineage. My question is...is anyone working on this line who has definitive information about the linkage? My most perplexing problem has been that I have never been able to tie my known ancestor Elizabeth to these parents and grandparents. It seems that most everything I have found is prefaced by "it assumed" or "according to information found in the NY Public Library" but I have never seen actual proof. If any of you can offer guidance I would greatly appreciate the help. The supposed lineage above does go back further into New Amsterdam and possibly to England but proof has been hard to find. The Oct 1984 of the Purcell Journal touches on this line and I do have the information that was included in it but it mostly comes forward from Josiah and Elizabeth rather than back in time.
