Below are some announcements. Let's hope the warm weather returns soon so we can all get out to play!

* Puptown has a new Facebook page. Join us to stay up to date on events and to post photos and comments. Become a fan of Puptown:

* Puptown needs more park users to take part in events, clean-ups and decision-making. A brainstorming session will be scheduled soon to strategize ways to increase membership and involvement. If interested in taking part, please send your contact information to in...@puptown.org

* Don't forget that per Park District rules, Puptown relies on its users to fund maintenance and park improvements. To join the Puptown Dog Owners Group, visit http://www.puptown.org/membership.html

Upcoming Events:
* Saturday, May 2: Park Cleaning
Larry Asimov's crew is coming to give the park a professional, top-to-bottom scrubbing. This first cleaning of the season is expected to start around 8 a.m. and last for up to eight hours, so you might want to skip the park on this day or at least come very early or late in the afternoon.

Park users will take over cleaning duties for the rest of the spring and summer. It's a volunteer effort, and we could use everyone's help. Join in the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, starting May 16, at 8 a.m. (rakes, gloves and coffee provided!).

* Saturday, May 16: Wag the Bag
Green Paws Chicago and Zoomagreen.org will present "Wag for the Bag" at Puptown (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.) to educate dog owners about the benefits of biodegradable dog waste bags over other plastic alternatives. The event will feature area dog services, products and a juried competition of Chicago artists who will present designs for waste bag dispensers created completely from recycled materials.

The selected dispensers will be placed at Puptown and other Chicago Park District Dog Friendly Areas. Contact Barb at ba...@greenpawschicago.com for more information. For details about entering artwork in the competition, please visit www.greenpawschicago.com

* Membership Drive Kick-Off
May 16 also marks the beginning of Puptown's weeklong membership drive. If you haven't joined or renewed your membership for 2009, stop by to sign up and purchase a Puptown t-shirt. Rather not wait? Join online today: http://www.puptown.org/membership
