This is likely bug 12833 [1] and will be fixed when Puppet 3.0.2 is released.

Ah right. that may explain the issue then.
in that case do you or anyone know how to remove all trace of this install on my Mac? I usually use AppZapper but there is no app created. I cannot see anything to help undo the install.
I decided to install some CentOS VMs in VirtualBox to learn Puppet instead (should have done that from the start to be honest).
