Hi,

I've been trying to get augeas working on AIX for some time now. Has anyone got it working?

Compiling up older versions of augeas (0.8.1) is no problem, but it doesn't let me create the shared libraries I seem to need for the ruby-augeas module :/

Pretty much the same seems true for Solaris, even though I have not tried as hard there yet.

If we don't have ruby-augeas on all 3 platforms (RedHat, AIX, Solaris) means that we can't use it in our modules. Cross-platform is quite important.

Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank,

I've CCed the augeas-devel list, as that's a better place to ask.

Interesting, there's only one shared library you need to link
ruby-augeas to augeas itself. What problems are you getting exactly?

I'm pretty sure we've had people work on AIX in the past, but I don't
know if anybody's compiled it recently.

Solaris will definitely work, but there are issues with 0.10.0 "out of
the box". OpenCSW (Mark Phillips) have compiled it with a few patches,
have a look at their svn repo:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/gar/browser/csw/mgar/pkg/augeas/trunk

In particular you'll need these patches:
0001-fix-compiling-on-solaris.patch (adds some gnulib modules)
0002-regexp-escape.patch (fixes broken code path on some OSes)

There's another to fix a missing libxml2 dependency in pkg-config if you
need that (which could affect building ruby-augeas).
