Ruby is in the base repos (or optional channel in RHEL 6), so there
isn't a need for us to provide it. It is provided by the distro
vendor.

RHEL 5 and RHEL 6 have slightly different requirements.

Which are you trying first ?

What errors are you getting ? Pleas ebe detailed without flooding the list. If the errors are huge, use pastebin

Suggest using puppet enterprise which has a fairly thorough installer and a complete set of custom packages to ease the installation. 

The license-pricing beyond the initial ten-free is not unreasonable and you get additional important features. 

See website for details on differences between puppet enterprise and open puppet.
