Geppetto 4 on Kubuntu 14.10 (32 bit) preferences closes app

Running Geppetto 4 on Kubuntu 14.10 (32 bit) and every time I open Menu > Window > Preferences, the preferences window opens for about 10 seconds and then the entire application closes.

I haven't been able to find a log to attempt to debug the reason why. Can someone advise as to where an application / debug log is located or can be enabled?

If you know how to resolve this issue that information would be greatly appreciated.
