Hello,

I'm trying to follow the instructions in https://docs.puppetlabs.com/geppetto/latest/#add-geppetto-to-an-existing-version-of-eclipse to install Geppetto on to of existing Eclipse Luna 4.4.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS x64 and get the following error:

Unable to read repository at https://geppetto-updates.puppetlabs.com/4.x/content.xml.
Unable to read repository at https://geppetto-updates.puppetlabs.com/4.x/content.xml.
Connect to geppetto-updates.puppetlabs.com:443 timed out

When I try to browse to https://geppetto-updates.puppetlabs.com/4.x/content.xml using Chrome I get a 404, browsing to https://geppetto-updates.puppetlabs.com/4.x/ shows a directory listing which indeed doesn't include "context.xml".

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Hi Amos,

It's likely that you experienced some temporary network outage. The URL https://geppetto-updates.puppetlabs.com/4.x/ is correct.

The reason you see other files is that the Eclipse update manager first tries to read a file named 'compositeContent.jar', then 'compositeContent.xml', then 'content.jar', and at last 'content.xml'. The error stems from the last attempt. The Geppetto update site however, provides the compositeContent.jar so the first attempt should have succeed.

HTH,
- thomas

Thanks Thomas,

This behaviour is persistent - I also get the exact same error today. Also I don't have problem accessing this server from my browser.

Anything else that I can do about this?

Cheers,

Are you by any chance behind a proxy? Maybe proxy settings in your
Geppetto are off...

Hi Thomas,

Bugger it you were right.
We finally removed the proxy requirement two days ago but I forgot about Eclipse being setup with it.
Once I switched the proxy settings back to "direct" it started playing nicely.

Sorry for the noise.

Cheers,
