Get Bolt Running in Azure Cloudshell
Issue Type: Bug Bug
Assignee: William Hurt
Components: Azure, CloudShell, bolt
Created: 2019/07/10 7:07 AM
Labels: bolt azure Cloudshell
Priority: Normal Normal
Reporter: William Hurt

Azure Cloudshell is a browser hosted shell that allows direct access to your cloud estate as though you were browsing in your own filesystem.

There were competing products like Ansible already available in Cloudshell by default for all users, but Bolt wasn't. While talking to a program manager at Microsoft we decided that Bolt would be a perfect fit for CloudShell and should be available to all users by default.

This ticket is to cover the work of getting Bolt installed by Microsoft, and then updating documentation and working out a support path whereby Microsoft can funnel people that need support to us.

Re: Get Bolt Running in Azure Cloudshell

I have tested Bolt to work on the version of Ubuntu that runs CloudShell, both with and without PowerShell core. It runs great.

Now waiting on Microsoft to either provide me with a production container image I can test privately, or a public build of CloudShell to be available for testing.

Once a production environment is available I can do Azure specific testing to see what documentation if any needs to be updated for CloudShell users to properly leverage bolt.

Only things that are different that normal Bolt usage need to be documented, and there shouldn't be much.
