Important Customer Update: Upgrade required for PAM version 1.100.3 or older

Hello, 

This announcement is for CD4PE v4 and Comply v2 customers. Beginning February 1^st, Replicated is removing support for several kURL add-ons that have gone end-of-life, one of which is Weave. This affects any customers running PAM 1.100.3 or older. PAM versions 1.102.2 and newer have migrated from using Weave to using Flannel to continue providing a supported experience to our customers.  

For customers that are up to the latest version of PAM, 1.102.2 or newer, you do not need to take any action. For customers on PAM version 1.100.3 or older you will need to upgrade your PAM instance or migrate to CD4PE v5 to continue to be on a supported version of CD4PE.  

Benefits to migrating to v5: 

• More Efficient Installer: Our new installer has been optimized for efficiency. It's lighter, which means it consumes fewer resources and runs faster.  

• Puppet Bolt Integration: We've integrated Puppet Bolt, a well-established orchestration tool within the Puppet ecosystem, into the installation process, enhancing reliability and functionality. 

• Reduced Dependencies: We've worked to minimize third-party dependencies, simplifying the installation, and reducing potential compatibility issues. 

• Familiar Workflows: The new installer closely aligns with workflows that many of you are already familiar with Puppet Enterprise, making it easier to transition to CD4PE V5. 

• New Feature Releases: As we continue to innovate on CD4PE with new features and enhancements, those changes will become more focused on v5 releases in early 2024.  We will continue to maintain our v4 product with the focus for those releases being specific to addressing high severity CVEs and critical bug fixes only, beginning in early 2024. 

  
  

To get started with migrating to this version, you'll need to create a Forge User ID. Once created, please provide your User ID to Puppet support, and we will grant you access to the newest version of CD4PE. 

To migrate to CD4PE v5, users must be running PAM at version 1.64.0 or later and must be running CD4PE 4.26.2 or later. If you need to upgrade your v4 installation, see the upgrade docs here. The migration steps for going from v4 to v5 can be found here.
