Hello Everyone,

We are excited to announce the official release of Puppet CEM for Linux v1.9.0, featuring valuable added capabilities for enterprise customers!

What are the highlights of this release?

New platform support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 and Oracle Linux 9 for CIS benchmarks, automated auditing process improvement.

Why does this release matter?

The functionality included in this release bolsters Puppet CEM remediation capabilities with the following positive business outcomes:

  • Reduces security risk by preventing misconfiguration and drift. Utilizing Puppet policy-as-code (PaC) automatically remediates and enforces configurations aligned to new CIS Benchmarks for two popular operating system versions: RHEL 9 and Oracle Linux 9.
  • Accelerate time to value by reducing remediation time and effort through automation of processes at scale to achieve continual configuration drift correction.

How does the new functionality help customers?

  • Support for RHEL 9 and Oracle Linux 9 operating systems - enforce the Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks for RHEL 9 and Oracle Linux 9 Benchmarks, Levels 1 and 2, to help ensure a secure configuration node when running these operating systems.
  • Scalable and comprehensive automated auditing process – run a single Puppet Bolt plan with up to 40 audit tasks. The Bolt plan, run_audit, can be run on one or more specified nodes to verify their configuration. Afterward, the Bolt log file provides a list of audited controls and detailed results. You can still run audit tasks separately, as supported in earlier releases.
