ART, aka Anti Roll Tank, is doing as well as it did on day one in 2006.
Nothing has been done to it including adding water......it still has the
same 6 1/2" level I put in in 2006 in the British Virgin Islands. The tank
has been looked into by many customs and boarding parties however. Just
looks so enticing to them as a contraband carrier ;-)
Hard to believe, IMHO. Totally passive, no power used, nothing movable in
it so I expect another 10 years before it should have a ruler stuck in it
for another level check ;-)
Rest of Swan Song is getting a good going over to make sure she's ready for
the 2300 odd nm trip to Catalina Island. Don't like any surprises offshore
;-)
Can't find any account of under 75' single screw boats that has done what
Swan Song has with so few issues. She just picks them up and lays them down.
Making a passage East from Honolulu to Catalina Island anytime of year is
unheard of in a boat this size......wrong way Corrigan....... if you,
anyone on the list or Georgs know of any please drop me a note.....I'd sure
like to hear and discuss with them.
There's a 120+ ft motor yacht fueling up at the marina here today...topping
off the tanks with an additional 12000 (18000 total) gals.....Captain says
he should have a 20% reserve when he gets to Port Angles in 12-15 days.

Glad to hear the anti-roll tank is working well. We shared a couple of e-mails several years back on your set up. We are on a 55’ custom steel trawler with bilge keels for our stabilization. They work well but we’ve had a couple of days were we rolled more than we wanted too, specifically running up the Oregon/Washington coast. That said, love having passive stabilization, especially in anchorages.
Our M/V Antipodes may not equal your efforts on Swansong but she’s been from Nova Scotia to Alaska, the Caribbean (wrong way) and out to the Marquesas before the prior owners had health issues and returned her to San Diego. We’ve only run her 11,000 nm so far but I think she’s got around 35,000 on the hull with only a couple of minor issues. Lucky us.
Would love to see the roll tank setup if you get into the San Diego area for any time. If you need any info on the area feel free to reach out. We know the area pretty well from Ensenada to the Channel Islands.
