Empty HTML (<html/>) tag returned if no content entered into textarea

I believe my subject says it all. Is anyone else having this issue,
and do you know how to make the app return an empty string, instead?
I've searched the docs, this group and the Web and cannot find an
answer. My app is pretty dynamic, so I don't really want to hardcode
functionality that strips '<html/>' if I can avoid it.
