Guys,
Summer has come and i feel my AC is not sufficiently cooling. I have
emotion variant. What could be the reason? I am planning to show this
at free service camp, but some idea before that would help me.

Ravi.

Get the pollen filter cleaned or replaced if you drive in really dirty
conditions.

Is cleaning the pollen filter a DIY job?

I dont think this a DIY job.Because at the SC,they opened the glove box and replaced the filter which costs Rs.254.
they took about 30mins to replace the filter, but to come out of the SC it took nearly 1.5hrs.

Very good link, Amogh

Ravi - Also try this setting. Set the temp at 16 Degree, the fan shall
move faster. Reduce the fan speed to say 3 or 4 lines mark on the
display. This way cooling will be more with lower fan speed.
Am not sure if this will solve but just try if you find this setting
comfortable

Hi,

The AC of Punto has Failed here in New Delhi the ac never works in afternoon even at 16C .
Went to the ASS but they were not able to resolve it , I meet two linea users complaining about the AC not working.

Will again go to the ASS to resolve the issue.

Hi Veer,

Only solution is ECU replacement.

Repleacement is free of cost at every SC. You can go and ask for ECU replacement. FIAT re-designed ECU for 1.2 L of Punto and 1.4 L of Linea due to no cooling issue.

This is less than one hour job.

Mine is running with new ECU and AC cooling is very much effective all the times. I park my car in open parking. I am based in Noida.

Diesel is not having cooling issue, I am not aware with 1.4L Punto.

Thx,
Nitin

Dear vp
sorry to report that atleast one ac has not failed in delhi heat. My ac is cooling my car in 1 km distance. From phase v to trident hotel flat. Temparature shown on mid is always in access of 50 c. Sun facing parking is culprit.

Well here in mumbai, in the afternoon after half hour of the ac at 16
degrees I start feeling cold and have to adjust the ac to 19 - 22
degrees.
so i can say 1.4 punto's in mumbai are quite cooler after half hour to
45 mins of the ac running at full blast!

BTW, just had my pollen filter cleaned at the TASC, yesterday.. lets
see if it makes any difference.

Oh and you need a special "L" key to access the pollen filter
container nuts in the glove box in the indian punto.

The European punto has the pollen filter located in the center
console.

Mine is Punto 1.3 MJD and I  dont even feel any cool air flowing from the vents at 16c when my speed is below 50.

Once my Speed is above 50 i can feel the cool air and the sound of compressor working ... but in delhi traffic i can`t always drive above 50.

on my return journey from gurgaon to east Delhi  my car`s temperature does`t go down. but when i travel in i10 i feel the AC is much stronger than my punto in same conditions.

Veer Pratap

Am very happy with the coolness... Its great as long as u dotn park the car in direct sunlight... It takes more time to kool the cabin... Once its cooled its perfect.... Infact i never use the Auto mode on the climate control as it raises the fan speed and the noise is irritating...

Aashay,
I need to clean both my air filters and pollen filters for my vehicle... Does the TSS charge you for the same if u take it to them????

No they dont.
Labour work is FREE in warranty period.

But have the filter's cleaned in front of you, wasan may just wash the
car and give it back to you.

Aashay,
Thanks for the prompt reply.. Da problem wid wasan is for getting such
a small thing done I've probably have to wait for few hrs and onli
then things Wld move.. Its dat bad and I normally loose my temper on
them everytime I go... Neways I'll try bharti as Naveen and Anand had
got a gd experience wid them so far and secondly its on my way to
work..
Don't worry I'd get it done in front of me itself..

That is strange Veer. I have a Punto MJD E-pack and the AC is chilling
even in Delhi heat. Of course, it takes a little time to cool the
interiors down if the car has been parked directly under the sun. But
otherwise, I drive with the temp set at 24C during my morning (9-10
AM) and evening (8-9 PM) drives office and back.

Hey Veer,

Had a non-cooling AC in mjd emotion. Made a couple of trips to the
service yard. Initially, they filled gas, which they were unable to
hold even though no visible leakage was seen. Referred to Fiat QA and
they sent a checklist to dealer. Problem located-faulty O-ring seal in
a coolant pipe.
No problems at all since then, AC runs on half-cool. If it works,
great...otherwise ask fiat to send checklist.

I have a 1.4 Punto Emotion ... I agree to a lot of people here , that
the a/c isn't cool enough during this hot summer. I am based out of
Hyd and here the temp in summers are always between 40 - 45 , and i
seriously at times don't find the a/c satisfactory.

My a/c coolant leaked as soon as I got my car , since it is under
warranty they replaced the gas , but somehow it's not cool enough. As
the load increases in the car the cool deteriorates big time. Some
days back i took my team mates out for lunch. The car was parked under
shade but the outside temps must be like 44 - 45. There were 5 people
in the car ... and the guys sitting in the back seat were actually
sweating !!

I have a Santro and a Verna 1.6 back home in Pune. With Pune heat ,
Santro fares pretty well ...and man Verna's actually chills your
bones!!

Expected Punto's to be on the same line. :(

Guys,

I am owning Petrol Active (1.2). I am not at all facing any issue after ECU replacement(earlier it was like AC is not installed) . I am based in NCR and having open parking. AC is enough capable to cool the cabin in around 7-8 minutes. I am talking about around 43-44 degree temp of Delhi when car is parked under direct sunlight at around 2 PM. It starts throughing cold air in less than 1 minute and takes said time to get comfort level.

My fried is owning MJD and he is also quite happy with AC.

Other members also confirmed that they are not facing AC cooling issue.

So, those who are facing cooling issue, get your car checked in SC. If SC team is not able to resolve this issue then ask them to get checklist from plant. Then they should be able to resolve the issue. This is happened with one of the team member.

Nitin

I had problems with AC. My Punto MJD's AC was performing bad in Bangalore weather at 35 to 38 degree. Last week I needed to do a long trip so went to Concorde to check. He just did a AC filter clean up.
Now the AC is too good at Fan Speed - 1 and AC @ 75% or below.
