Hi All,

I am new to XMPP , ejabberd. I am developing gtalk client using stophe
and ejabberd. I want to install punjab on my ubuntu 10.04.

I have downloaded source code punjab, when i tried to run
$python setup.py install i am getting message like

running install
running build
running build_py
package init file 'twisted/plugins/__init__.py' not found (or not a
regular file)
package init file 'twisted/plugins/__init__.py' not found (or not a
regular file)
running install_lib
running install_egg_info
Removing /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/punjab-0.14.egg-info
Writing /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/punjab-0.14.egg-info

I am worried about , weather punjab setup was done or not.

It looks good to me. I believe the error is because punjab uses the older twisted plugin method and needs an update.

You should be able to run Punjab fine.

You can also run `twistd | grep punjab` to see if it's listed as an available application.

It would be easier to solve your problem if you could show the punjab logs. Also, make sure its in verbose mode. That is  the default in the .tac file.

Hi Sathi,

I am also trying to setup punjab but getting problem.

While running command from cmd : python setup.py install i am getting the following error:

C:\Python27>python C:\punjab-master\setup.py install
running install
running bdist_egg
running egg_info
writing punjab.egg-info\PKG-INFO
writing top-level names to punjab.egg-info\top_level.txt
writing dependency_links to punjab.egg-info\dependency_links.t
warning: manifest_maker: standard file 'setup.py' not found

error: package directory 'punjab' does not exist

Please help me and if possible please share all the steps to configure punjab and other dependent modules to use talk with strophe.js.

Thanks.

Please try this when your current workding directory is the punjab root.

cd C:\punjab-master\
then
python setup.py install

Let me know if you still get the same problem

I am also trying to setup punjab on linx.
I ran the command, "python setup.py install" to setup the punjab, that command working fine

Can you provide a detailed traceback? Also, what version of python and twisted are you using?
