How can we all add 20,000MW extra clean energy capacity?

Hi,

    Really!  If we all put our minds to it, we could be adding a cool 20,000MW additional generation capacity and it'll be all clean!  And we can do it incrementally: one watt at a time!  How?

    While wind, solar, geo, bio and many other whiz-bang technologies are hogging all the limelight, there's a very real low-hanging fruit CleanTech opportunity entwined in our lives.  Our own government estimates India's energy saving opportunity is 20,000MW!  Without any new technology development!  And those are 2008 numbers.  

    After Dr. Balu Sarma's highly enlightening and appreciate talk on 'what the heck is cleantech', PuneCleanTech is proud to bring focus on this exciting opportunity.  On June 5th, Mr. Shishir Athale will tell us all about it.  Shishir is one of those few intrepid souls who have been working in it for years.  The talk is at 10:30am at the NCL VEnture Center on Pashan Road.  Admission is free but seating is limited.  No registration required or accepted.  Seating is strictly on a first-come-first-seated basis.

    Although the opportunity is real, there are many challenges is tapping it.  One of the biggest is 'capacity'.  Where are the people who can provide such consultancy?  The next is the right business/funding models.  Shishir will tell us about that as well.  But i feel Pune can make a big difference on the first issue.  We have such strong industrial capacity here with tremendous talent, experience, skills and quite a few mid-career question marks as to 'what next?' :-)  Maybe this talk will provide an answer!
