Hayaa of Algerian Women

One of the [french] soldiers wrote in his diaries during the liberation war [of Algeria]:

 

“When we use to perform raid &  sweep operations in the villages &  mountains looking for the Mujahideen, I used to feel a pain in my heart & humiliated with myself by the reaction of the women. They used to run & escape with the speed of lightning into the animal stables when they saw us &  would quickly stain themselves with animal waste & droppings so that we would be disgusted by them when we tried to rape them. We dare not come close to them because of the foul smell which comes out from them…truly a picture that will not depart my mind so long as I am alive & makes me respect those who used to swim in animal waste for the sake of their honor.”

 

Subhanallah!!!! This is what the Algerian women used to do to protect their chastity & honour!!!! How sad our condition is , when we openly flaunt ourselves to be molested by the eyes of αℓℓ.

 

Haya (modesty) is a special characteristic of a Mu'min ( believing, practicing Muslims). Both haya & Iman are interdependent; therefore either they both exist together or they both perish. Thus, the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wasallam has said in one hadith, "When there is no haya left, then do as you please."
