Hi Guys,

conf.kde.in is looking for a venue. If any of the current students are interested, you can host the conference in our college this year. This will be a great learning opportunity and also a good opportunity to meet other KDE contributors from around the world in person.

From an organizational standpoint, it would only require a room/auditorium with a projector, everything else is extra.

You can get in touch with the community on telegram group @kde_india or on the IRC channel #kde-in

Hii everyone

We the students of UIET would love to host the upcoming kde conference in Panjab University Chandigarh this year.

We have an active student driven community known as Programming Club UIET, whose students would be more than happy to take part in the organization of the event.

As of the deliverables, we have

  • Organization space

    • 1 auditorium with capacity of about 400 - 500 people.

    • 2 Auditoriums with capacity of about 250 - 300 people right beside each other

    • 1 Hall with concentric round tables in it, with projector at the center(best for live coding sessions)

    • 1 seminar hall with a capacity of about 130 people

    • Several lecture halls with the capacity of about 120 students

Note: All Auditoriums and lecture halls have basic facilities like projector, AC, internet and mike.

  • Accommodation

    • Accommodation for speakers can be arranged inside the University guest houses.

    • The attendees could be recommended lots of good places around the university due to the ideal positioning of university in Chandigarh.

  • Food

    • The university has several departmental canteens along with a common food space area known as student center where all kinds of food are available for the attendees.

    • Food for speakers will be arranged in university guest houses and our university is also close to well maintained restaurants for dining.

  • Team

    • We have an active team of 20 students who are ready to work day and night to make the event a commendable success.

    • We can easily handle stuff such as sponsorships, registrations, inventory etc.

  • Connectivity

    • Bus stand: 4.5 km

    • Railway Station: 12 km

    • Airport: 20 km

Any further information can be inquired upon.

Hi Akshay,
Seems like a good initiative.
Mail the same to the KDE and wait for their response.

Just a suggestion that you can address the mail as a member of PULUG instead of PCLUB.

Advantages of doing so -
1. There are more members in PULUG, so it adds a impression of a bigger open source community.
2. Almost all good colleges have a LUG(Linux Users Group), eg. IITD-LUG, etc. So it would be easier for KDE to trust your mail.
3. Since KDE is all about promoting Linux, getting help from a LUG would be more favourable instead of a programming community.
