Updates regarding SFD this year. Sorry for the delay.

* We have approached college for the funds regarding SFD. They want to conduct the event under the “Alumni funds” and for that they want around 60-80% speakers are that alumni of our college. We have a meeting with director on Monday regarding this.

* We have approached some coaching institutions for the sponsorship. Sponsors will get finalized by the end of next week.

* Cfp has been open for the proposals for the speakers and we are publicising it on the social media. You can contact Divyam sir for further details regarding speakers.

* We have started publicising the event on facebook and twitter.

* We have mailed some of the companies so that they can provide us with stickers for the event.

* Website is already live. You can check it at www.softwarefreedomday.in

* Dates for the event will be most probably 15th and 16th of the September. We have to confirm it from the department as it may conflict with the minors.

Strange. Why? Also, can we keep this separate from college?

I have some stickers of Zendesk. Someone needs to collect them from me.

The overall expenditure for the event has gone significantly up since last year. Only the venue will cost 15k. So to make sure that SFD's fate isn't dependent on whether it has any sponsors or not it is necessary to get help from the college. Also to invite some outside speakers, funds are required for travel and accommodation reimbursement.
It was made clear to the team to not associate with the college if college professors try to change the event in a manner that members of PULUG don't agree upon. But if we can get college's help while maintaining autonomy on how the event is to be organised, I don't find it harmful to associate SFD with college.

Also, I can collect stickers from you.
