Dear Friends,

I am writing this mail to all of you to seek your participation in a
very important campaign. So far, I was involved with RTI movement in
India. But RTI takes you upto a point and leaves you wondering - what
next? It gives you information, exposes corruption but no action is
taken there upon.

Many of us have together started a campaign for swaraj or self rule.
We are demanding that the real power to take decisions should lie with
people, through people's assemblies - Gram Sabhas in rural areas and
mohalla sabhas in urban areas. If the area is not cleaned properly,
people's assembly (in its monthly meeting) should be able to directly
penalize sanitary supervisor. If teacher does not come to school, Gram
Sabha should be able to directly hold him accountable.

Likewise, people's assemblies should decide spending priorities for
Government funds in their area.

I am attaching a detailed note. Kindly go through it. We have also
started a website www.lokrajandolan.org Please take a look at the
site.

Zee News is running a campaign for the last two weeks encouraging
people to vote for that party which gives you swaraj. We are extremely
grateful to Sh Subhash Chandra, Chairman of Zee Group for initiating
this campaign on Zee. The Zee campaign is extremely powerful and has
had great response.

Hindustan Times would be starting this campaign from tommorrow.

We now plan to do a campaign in Delhi by putting up swaraj messages
all over Delhi. This would catch the attention of the rest of media
and could force some political parties to take a stand on this issue.
But all this has to be done very soon, before elections. We should
start this campaign within the next two days.

We need funds for this. Our total budget is Rs 25 lakhs. If you
believe in this cause, I request you to kindly donate as much as you
can. In the interest of transparency, we would be putting up the list
of donors on the website. I hope you would have no problems in that.

With warm regards

Arvind Kejriwal
