Ihave very little experience with WordPress, but my attempt to set everything up so far went fairly well. Where I'm struggling with now, is that none of the Astra starter templates seem to work - they all break and generate invalid html like this:

In file wp-content/plugins/astra-sites/inc/importers/wxr-importer/class-astra-wxr-importer.php there is an if branch apparently run in the case of Gutenberg builder, explicitly adding the slashes that actually breaks the page content:

Thank you, OP!I worked to resolve this issue for hours. Even after finding your solution, it took me some time because the path and name of the file has changed. To anyone else looking for a solution in the future, simply search your WordPress files for "wrx" and you should easily be able to find the importer PHP file. In the file, just search for "Gutenberg" and you should be able to find the line that escapes out quotation marks with a backslash. I commented out that line, imported the same starter site that I had tried a dozen times, and it worked perfectly!

Some standard WordPress templates are common to almost all themes. For example, the archive.php template displays a list of all posts (within a category, tag, or date range). And the single.php template is used to display single blog posts. Consult the template hierarchy to figure out which template WordPress uses on any given page of your website.

Besides the standard templates, some themes have special templates designed to deliver special design features. For example, your theme may have a special template for a contact page or a full-width template with no sidebar.

Hi Nadir, Yes, you can add a new template, but it will have to be PHP. You include your HTML in the template along with WordPress template tags (which are really specialized PHP functions that only work with WordPress).

Hi Nancy, I have no experience with this product, but after looking at the sales pages I would say you need the WordPress theme version. The Website Template version is not a WordPress theme (just the static HTML, CSS, JavaScript files, etc.)

Hello Kirk,

I would like to buy a wordpress theme that I like but does not have the landing page template. In the web I found some codes to create landing.php

Can I simply create a template like landing.php or is it a more complex thing?

Thank you in advance

I have an WordPress website, that got messed up when I had BlueHost change the primary domain. All the images are gone from the header and the Home page. It was built using Astra Theme. I see a template when I go to each page (that template happens to be the one I used to build my website in the first place). Can you point to some write up that explains the exact steps to use this new template to fix my site?

Hi, it sounds like you have some hard-coded links pointing to your images on the old domain. First, check your media library and see if all of the images are broken. If so, you can use a plugin like Better Search and Replace ( -search-replace/) to do a global search and replace and change the old domain URL to the new domain URL. That should bring your missing images back.

I was anxious to have my site fixed as I was expecting someone to visit my site, just to check things up. Therefore, I took a much longer route to fix the problem. I could still see the Astra template I used last time to build my site. I used it and built each page, using copy/paste. It was tedious, but I got it fixed. I also got some newer, more attractive, images added. Your solution would have been much easier. In fact, two sites got messed up. I have fixed only one of the two. I will use your method to fix the second and will let you know how it went.

As I was playing around with different functions in the Page Builder, I stumbled upon something that I missed before. There is a section that shows the current picture (which was nothing for me) and then gives you an option to bring in a new one. Using that, I was able to put images on my pages. I was able to find some relatively catchy photos that are much better than the original ones I lost.

As I mentioned earlier, I am a total novice with no formal training on building websites. However, I get excited when I discover/learn new things. That was a great day for me. I discovered several impressive features built in these addons. I never got around to trying your suggestion, but want to thank you for leading me to this path of experimentation that helped me learn so much.

Not as an HTML template, but with some additional PHP coding it could be turned into a WordPress template. You would need to add some template tags to tell WordPress where and how to display your content.

Many WordPress plugins have long ago passed the million-install milestone. Several have multi-millions. However, this is a much tougher feat for themes. One of the limiting factors is that users can only activate one of them at a time. There is no limit when it comes to plugins, and users often have dozens running at once. One million active installs is a level of popularity that is almost unheard of in the theming world.

This is not simply a major milestone for the Astra theme. It is huge for WordPress. For a third-party theme creator to reach a number that only the default themes can boast is the sort of thing we should all rejoice in a bit. It is a testament to how much WordPress has grown over the years.

Once that first theme passes the 1 million mark, it is only a matter of time before others start breaking the barrier. OceanWP has the shortest striking distance and could be next. However, Hello Elementor is moving fast and earned its install count in a year and a half.

Regardless of the next theme to hit the milestone, this is one of those moments we should look back on in a few years to see how far we have come. Perhaps 1 million active installs will merely be a stepping stone to even greater heights for large numbers of themes.

I have made a comparison video between Astra, GeneratePress, OceanWP, and five others free version themes in cheap share hosting share hosting environment, about $10USD per annually. The video in Indonesian language =kPtKmVymkFk

Maybe the people prefer to pick Astra because there is a copyright footer removal option in theme customization. It is very helpful for beginner user without touching the code or additional plugin. Small feature with big impact.

What I like most about Astra is that the free version offers a ton of features for users who do not wish to upgrade to the paid version yet. And coupled with the starter site templates and its awesome speed, I feel that team Brainstorm Force deserves kudos for developing the Astra theme.

I am a web designer and use Astra Theme for my own website and for those of my clients. Easy to use, easy to edit and compatible with most builders, especially the elementor which is my favourite builder. The starter templates are additional resources that distinguishes Astra Theme from the rest themes. In addition, the installation of Astra Theme comes with required plugins thereby saving you time, cost and energy involved in gathering and buying themes for a website under design.

No doubt why Astra could hit the million is a very short time. I have my two blogs designed using Astra and I must say, it is the best WordPress theme ever. If you use it with Elementor, Any kind of blog design you can have.

Maybe it is not as a priority as you wish it to be. Keep in mind these stats are global, not a lot people around the world have laws and even worldview that accessibility is a priority or thing at all. These are just facts.

The team has claimed that accessibility is important. It is important because WordPress is about democratizing publishing for everyone, including those that have a disability or other issue that makes it harder to use the web. It is important because it is simply the right thing to do as a decent and caring human being. We should always strive to be as inclusive as possible with our technology.

You are likely correct that the majority are not concerned with accessibility. Awareness is a large issue, and we should be doing better with that. I guarantee this would change if there was a huge global push about the issue outside of web development circles. That means governments, businesses, and grassroots-people-led activism must play a part in creating that awareness.

Oh really

I think i should give a try to astra too

Right now i am quite happy but having some troubles with hestia theme.

I really wanna give try to other themes you have mentioned in the article,

And of course congrats to astra team

So, All that Beginners that are following this tutorial are installing and using the Astra theme. So, at least 80% of the 1,000,000 active installs are beginners who come to Astra through this tutorial and not professional users.

Sometimes, you may want a different look and feel for certain posts on your WordPress website. For instance, you may want to use a different layout for featured articles or stories in a particular category.

You can add additional blocks by dragging them from the left column into the preview column. SeedProd uses template tags to pull in dynamic content like post titles, featured images, comments, and more. This lets you add content to the template without having to edit each post individually.

For example, you can add a Posts block at the end of your post content. This will display recent posts that your visitors may wish to read when they finish the current post. This block will be shown automatically on all posts using this template.

You should save this file as wpb-single-post.php on your desktop. Next, you need to add the template to your WordPress site. To do that, you need to use an FTP client to upload the file to your current theme folder.

Here, you can give the template a name and priority. The default Single Post template has a priority of 0, so make sure you give this template a higher priority so it will be displayed on matching categories.
