The core of this local position is technical support for USDA NRCS field offices in the implementation of
pollinator habitat via Farm Bill Programs (e.g. EQIP, CSP). There is a growing and important emphasis on supporting programs in urban service centers, including Philadelphia, Harrisburg, across all of New Jersey.
Prior experience and/or familiarity with NRCS & farm bill programs is desired and extremely helpful but not required.
Knowledge of pollinator biology, local farming systems,
urban agriculture, native seed production & establishment, invasive species management, and ecological restoration techniques are all highly relevant. The position includes the annual coordination of the Xerces Mid-Atlantic
Habitat Kits.
It is a multi-faceted job that is highly varied day-to-day. The home base office is in Columbus NJ, and interested applicants should be prepared for frequent travel across New Jersey, the Philadelphia metro area, southeast PA, and in developing and maintaining diverse community partnerships.
