Bilingual Community Engagement Coordinator


The Bilingual Community Engagement Coordinator is charged with strengthening NSNP’s personal, local, and cultural connections within the neighborhood and community at large. This role aims to engage community partners, neighbors, volunteers, visitors, and donors in a way that aligns with NSNP’s mission, vision, and values. 

Responsibilities
  • Identifies and strengthens relationships to existing partnerships by documenting long-standing histories, attending partner/community meetings, events, etc. 
  • Works collaboratively to implement the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies identified by the Business & Development Director.  
  • Lead volunteer recruitment, orientation, retention, and recognition efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish required
  • 2-3 years of experience in a related position, including event planning, volunteer coordination, communications, advocacy, and/or community engagement. 
Salary Range: $40,000 based on experience. This is a 35-hour work-week position.

Garden Educator

The Garden Educator will be charged with the education and development of Raíces de Cambio, a program rooted in improving access to culturally important agricultural practices for youth, their families, and neighbors. Supervised by the Youth Program Director and working with guidance from the Co-Garden Manager, the Garden Educator will ensure selected teens (ages 13-18) are introduced to a whole-systems approach to urban farming.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the youth leadership and agricultural apprenticeship program, Raíces de Cambio.
  • Prepare lessons that positively impact local land and food systems through hands-on stewardship activities. 
  • Develop and execute a curriculum to teach workshops in local schools, focusing on gardening techniques, the history of NSNP's gardens, and the importance of green spaces in our communities. 
Qualifications
  • College degree in education, environmental science, horticulture, or related field or at least 2 years of experience working with youth in a garden setting. 
  • Plant knowledge, basic gardening skills, and a passion for sustainability and the environment. 
Salary: $35,000/year based on a 30-hour work week year-round. 
This is a part-time contractor position, non-exempt, and reports to the Youth Program Director.

Program Assistant


The Program Assistant is a vital team member and will play an active role in youth arts education and program development related to our after-school and summer programs. In addition, the position will work to support and collaborate with the Semillas del Futuro Lead Instructor and Youth Programs Director.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in preparing and delivering classroom instruction, occasionally leads classroom activities, and manages the classroom under the Lead Instructor's guidance. 
  • Assists with the recruitment, outreach, and scheduling for our after-school programming. 
  • Participate in professional development/training/workshops related to after-school programs, trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning, leadership, organizational skills, etc., for a minimum of four hours per month. 
Qualifications
  • Preferable 1-2 years of experience teaching entrepreneurship, performing arts, media arts, and/or financial literacy to youth in middle and/or high school. 
  • Strong cultural fluency. Must contribute to a sense of belonging with youth who primarily identify as Puerto Rican, Dominican, and/or Black. 
Hourly rate: $18/hr. This is a 12-hour-a-week position.
