How do I get local channels for my town/area?

Your local channels will not be available.  Puffer is a research project at Stanford University in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Its purpose is to study video internet technology.  It is not meant to be a  broadly used consumer television service.    The channels provided by Puffer are Bay Area television stations picked up by the antennas on the Stanford campus near San Francisco.  Your local channels are available for a monthly fee from services such as Youtube TV, Hulu + Live TV, SlingTV,  and DirectTV.
