For those not from the Bay Area, here's what KRON is:
1) Owned by Nexstar, a company that owns many stations nationwide, including the "NewsNation" cable TV network
2)Weekday daytime programming - Local newscasts 5 am - 11 am PT M-F, then "Hot Bench," then news again (12-1), then "Live in the Bay!" lifestyle show (1-2), then reruns of "Dateline," (2-3) then news (3-4), then Dr. Phil (4-5). Afternoon news block. then 7p-8p closes out pre-primetime with Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight.
3) Prime time seems to be local newscasts
4) Late night is Inside Edition / Entertainment Tonight (11p-12mid), MyNetwork TV "prime time" block (various shows) 12a-2a
5) Weekends look like mostly junk, but then again, many TV stations seem to largely have gone into less desirable programming on weekends unless they have sports secured.
So, my thought is that if the students are seeing a lot of viewership during local newscasts on stations like the Fox affiliate or KBCW (when they tend to be time shifted) over CW Prime time programming, it might be worth making the change.
KBCW daytime consists of:
Judge shows (some of which are old reruns, Judge Judy isn't making new episodes)
Reruns of sitcoms (King of Queens, 2 and 1/2 Men, Young Sheldon, American Housewife, The Neighborhood)
Family Feud (6 pm Pacific)
Nexstar also bought this network and canceled a majority of the scripted television, it is unclear what the future of prime time programming may be
LIV Golf has been carried on this network
CBS announced it would exercise that right (To leave CW after the Nexstar acquisition) on May 5, 2023,
disaffiliating KBCW from the network at the end of August and returning
the station to independent status.
So, after the end of August, KBCW may be "independent" (news?) and KRON will likely be the home of the CW Broadcast Network programming.
