Here is a new show, a new concept, of which no one knew what to expect. This special show emphasizes pridefully the duality of sexes displaying traditional male and female costumes all on male bodies. Some appear as men, others as females, mixing both together. An example was a guy who wore a cowboy hat but also huge false eyelashes. The main purpose of this troupe is to show that dance has no gender. Traditional aspects of masculinity and femininity are blended as one creating a smooth respectful combination in Mexican culture.

Dancers in full regalia complete with animal head masks appeared in a swarm of magical mystical movements. One was a leopard, one a fierce hawk. Immediately, one saw that this was Ballet Folklórico which encompasses regional traditional Mexican dances. It is not just one type of dance; it encompasses each region's traditional dance that has been influenced by their local folklore and blended with ballet characteristics to be made into a theatrical production. Each dance represents a different region in Mexico illustrated through their different footwork having differing stomps or heel-toe points and choreography that imitates animals from their region.

The show features choreography inspired by Mexico's cultural wealth. The two side video screens showed a travelogue of the country highlighting certain cities and states. Then, as the video showed dancing, the live performance was based on these images backed with musical sonic blasts. Culture, Dance, Music and Interpretation is the description on their publicity.

Pre-recorded music from pop to jazz supplies the many tunes as she/he dances. At times, one artist would enter the stage in solo performance. Then, three more would join in, then six up to the entire dance troupe of seven. The dancers are in constant change, knowing who is to be highlighted when.

The theme and purpose of tonight's show were to mix the sexes, blurring any differences and prejudice. A dancer would be topped with a cowboy hat, sporting a trimmed beard but have a bright, multicolored flowing skirt to flash with the body movements. The outfits were sewn professionally with extreme care, mixing the colors of the rainbow.

It is a joyous beautiful appreciation of all sexualities, encouraging acceptance. The message is that every one of us has a bit of both sexes inside them and many times unaware. But it is all beautiful, flowing, energetic and happy. Dance, they did!
