disney plus download quality difference

I started watching Marvel's Agent Carter recently on Hulu (because it was expiring). Then I saw it's on Disney+, so I switched to watching on there today and noticed that the picture quality on Disney+ is way better. The picture is just way crisper and more detailed on Disney+ than it was on Hulu. (I'm guessing it's just Hulu still not letting some shows stream at high quality on laptops/desktops.) Just thought I would share my thoughts on this. So far I'm loving all the content on Disney+ (can't wait to stream some of those 90s X-Men and Spider-Man animated series) and the bump in picture quality for some shows was an excellent bonus/surprise.

Prime Video had 620 quality TV shows and 232 high-quality TV shows, while Netflix has 1,046 quality TV shows and 370 high-quality TV shows. Hulu has 962 quality TV shows and 293 high-quality TV shows.

Amazon Prime Video: Prime Video has the most bang for subscribers' bucks, with more movies and more TV shows than other services at an affordable price of $8.99 per month (that's just for Prime Video, not including other Prime features). It also has the most "quality" and "high-quality" movies, based on Reelgood's definition, but Netflix and Hulu have more well-rated TV shows.

Netflix: Netflix raised the price of its most popular plan (standard HD) last year to $12.99 per month, but there's still plenty of content to justify the price. It has the most "quality" and "high-quality" TV shows of any of the streamers. With 183 million subscribers globally, it's still the streaming champion.

Hulu: With Disney owning both Hulu and the FX network, Hulu is the exclusive home to FX programming, which likely beefed up its amount of highly rated TV shows. It follows only Netflix in regards to "quality" and "high-quality" series. Its movie collection isn't as impressive, falling short of even HBO Max, which just launched last month. But its ad-free subscription plan is still cheaper than HBO Max and Netflix's most popular standard HD plan. Its ad-supported version is cheaper than every service but Apple TV Plus.

HBO Max: HBO Max just launched last month, but the data show how it's already a formidable player in the streaming war. It has more total movies (and more quality movies) than Hulu, Disney Plus, and Apple TV Plus. It falls short when it comes to TV shows, only beating out Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus in the amount and quality that it offers, but it is expected to grow in time.

I have a LG C1 , so far all my movies are watched streaming Disney+ using Dolby Vision , movies look great imo , would a decent quality 4K Blu-ray player give me a better picture then streaming the content? I'm thinking about getting a Panasonic DP-UB820-K.

@XfinityTyler Thank you for responding. According to this other thread (with message from Christina posted 4 hours ago), it appears Xfinity is aware of a known issue with its streaming website [ -stream-website/terrible-quality-xfinity-stream/615f99e0a6e13d4fb336e0d7]. In my experience this is affecting not only the website, but the app on Amazon products (Firestick and Firecube) as well.

As noted in my original post when running the app off the firestick on my TV, the stream quality is very poor. As others have suggested, using a "TVGO" channel as opposed to a non-TVGO channel, makes a small difference in quality, but the quality is still very poor when compared to other streaming services like HULU, DirectTV streaming, individual channel streaming like HBOMax, Showtime, or streaming services like Netflix and PRIME. I can have Hulu running at the same time as Xfinity with the same channel and switch back-and-forth between the apps and there is a significant difference in picture quality with XFinity having the poorer quality.

Additionally, it would be great of when I logged into XFinity it would give me some type of notice (1) acknowledging there is a problem with the service, (2) that XFinity is working to remedy the issue, and (3) an estimated time of completion. XFinity has no issue sending me billing notices when it wants payment from me--the same zealousness should be applied when XFinity is not providing the quality of service for which it is charging.

As far as other devices outside of the Firestick and PC, I do not believe XFinity supports an app for my Sony TV or any of the gaming systems I own (XBox One, XBox Series X, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, or Switch). I generally do not watch video on my phone, so I have no need to install the app on it; and I do not own a tablet. Thus, I have not monitored the quality of streams outside Firestick or PC.

Netflix imposed another price hike in 2023, changed its ad-supported plan and bills you $8 for extra users. Amid the cost and password crackdown, some people are considering canceling their subscriptions. Disney Plus provides high-quality content that's on par with Netflix, and its pricing options make it stiff competition. But how do these two streaming giants otherwise compare in content and value?

Netflix and Disney Plus have megahits in their lineups, but they each handle original releases in their own ways. Disney Plus taps into legacy properties and existing franchises without really lighting a match on anything that's totally new. This approach works against Disney when viewers must wait for the streamer to drop something fresh. While shows like Loki and Andor have been high-quality successes, they're connected to larger cinematic universes. And unlike Netflix, there aren't many original movies dropping on the platform.

Disney Plus sits on a treasure trove of old and new programming, and its decision to give subscribers access to Hulu and ESPN Plus with the Disney Bundle offers added value. It wins with pricing. However, the streamer's selection of content is aimed at kids, families and franchise fans. As far as catalog depth, quality and interface, the platform is on fairly equal footing with Netflix.

Both options include the ability to stream on up to four screens at once and download content on up to 10 devices. Video quality goes up to Ultra HD, while audio is boosted with 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos where supported. All of this content is ad-free.

If you use the Disney+ video-streaming service on your devices, you probably know that it attempts to deliver the highest-quality experience possible as a default setting. To preserve your bandwidth when using Disney+, however, you must limit video quality over cellular and Wi-Fi. Follow along with us as we show you how to manage Disney+ data usage.

Disney+ offers several options to help manage data usage on all supported devices. You can adjust video quality in the mobile app and on compatible set-top boxes for every device separately, as well as change those settings in the Disney+ interface on the web.

As mentioned earlier, your data usage and video quality settings in the mobile app are applied to each device separately. Furthermore, they do not apply to the Disney+ app on set-top boxes and the web interface, as these have their own video and data settings.

Disney+ offers subscribers an unrivaled experience and access at any time and place. With high-quality and commercial-free content, the platform offers concurrent streaming on up to 4 devices at once, unlimited downloads on up to 10 devices, and the ability to set up to 7 different profiles. It also includes customized recommendations and the ability to create easy-to-navigate kids profiles with age-appropriate content. The service is available across a wide range of mobile and connected TV devices, including gaming consoles, streaming media players, and smart TVs.

In general, streaming will require a certain level of bandwidth from your internet connection and a certain speed to support the quality of the content. Certain activities, like listening to music without video or watching standard-definition (SD) video require less bandwidth and speed than something like streaming games or watching a high-resolution video in 4K quality.

When you are streaming content, the speed at which data is sent across the connection determines the quality of what you are experiencing. For example, if you have a very low internet speed and you are trying to stream a movie, you may have lower picture quality, problems with lagging and freezing, or an inability to play the stream at all. By contrast, a high-speed internet connection allows data to be transferred rapidly, which may mean clearer picture quality, no issues with lagging or freezing, and seamless transitions from one piece of streamed content to the next.
