In  India if anytime you are worried about the authenticity of  a medicine (i.e if  you feel the given medicine is  fake or counterfeit), remember - whenever a unit of  medicine is produced at the factory, it is  labeled <http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/worldmalayaliclub/>
 with a 10  digit unique code. <http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/worldmalayaliclub/>

When you  purchase any medicine, you can send this code (which is at  back of the unit) in the form of an SMS to 9901099010.   <http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/worldmalayaliclub/>

You will  receive an SMS which tells you if the medicine is genuine  and provides you with the batch number, expiry date and  other information.
