Dear Pub PR Member,

Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have a big influence on PR,
impacting the way we think about topical issues and our impressions of
companies' reputation (for better or for worse).

This time at Pub PR we will be hearing from the World Wildlife Fund
(WWF), one of the world's most influential and respected NGOs, about
their 'Earth Hour' campaign. Earth Hour is a global event to promote
awareness of climate change that will take place around the world on
March 28 (see in Chinese http://www.wwfchina.org/earthhour or in
English www.earthhour.org). In China Earth Hour already has support
from major corporations and celebrities such as TV host Yang Lan and
concert pianist Lang Lang.

Our speaker from WWF, Su Xiaowei, will introduce Earth Hour explaining
how both individuals and the corporate community can contribute to and
benefit from this exciting global event. Her talk will allow us to
hear not only about an upcoming global event, but also how
communications professionals can work with and understand campaigning
NGOs such as the WWF.

As the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour China Manager, Su Xiaowei
manages a campaign team to engage with the corporate, media, community
and government sectors. She has formerly worked in the media and
voluntary sectors, working with CCTV9, China Radio International and
United Nations Volunteers. Xiaowei is a Tianjin native who has spent
many years in the USA, before returning to China in 2004.

As usual, our venue will come with free snack food and will give us a
50% discount on most wines, spirits, local beer and soft drinks until
9pm!
