We just hit 50 registered participants (after two days), so I thought I'd give an update on the stats:

Just Curious - 14
Public Media Staff - 14
Technology Developer / Geek - 7
Community Media Maker / Producer - 15

(this afternoon I sent out an email to a list of past and present 'GBH geeks to try to get the Tech numbers up)

Female - 23
Male - 27

Pretty good variety of job titles.

We're at 85 registered now, and I've added 10 more tickets to each
category (except community, which is now capped at 40)

Just curious: 21
Public Media Staff: 15
Geek: 14
Community Media Maker / Producer: 35

I guess one of our topics tonight is to figure out how to reach out to
the tech folk better (or, what tech folks we want to reach...). The
public media staff seems low, but both 'BUR and 'GBH have been pretty
slow to register, so I assume it'll go up pretty quickly.

Ok, weirdly, I just put a message in here that seems to have
disappeared. My relationship to Google tools continues to be a
difficult one....

Anyway, I was writing to report that I've done some WGBH nagging, and
some very targeted outreach today: got the message out to the Upgrade
Boston folks; to the head of a mailing list for regional news about
Native American art, media and activism; to the Roxbury Film Fest and
Neighborhood Association folks; and to the person who manages the
local Latino/Latina AP list. I think it will take a few days for this
info to circulate in these channels, and I think many of these folks
will want to register as community media makers/producers some I'm
wondering what kind of messaging they will get if the tickets are sold
out. Do they get auto waitlisted? Should I tell them to register as
something else if they ask me?

Just curious...

When the event fills up, a wait-list should be automatically created and we can figure out what to do with people later. The “just curious” category is probably a good one for people to choose otherwise.

Also, a rule of them is that 20% of the peeps who register for a free event won’t show up anyway, so you can probably add a few extra tix beyond the actual space allotment. We made 300 tix available for the 250-person space at AU for the natl pubcamp, and everything worked out just fine. Also helped to remind people about their RSVP a couple days beforehand and ask them to un-rsvp if their plans have changed.

very exciting! Definitely the biggest one yet.

btw, I just noticed in the note that went out to attendees that we'd be given them login info to our flickr and vimeo account. Why not create a flickr group and use the pubcampBOS tag on youtube and vimeo? That way you dont have to worry about security problems.

Heather,
What's the Flickr group tag? I can populate the group with photos I took from our GBH tour.

It will be #pubcampBOS for both flickr and vimeo, Annie...

Except that you don't use a # sign for them. That's only for twitter.

So we're gonna do a Flickr tag rather than a group? Either will work fine.

I uploaded the tour photos and gave it the pubcampBOS tag. Let me know if you don't see it. (Also tweeted the link)

annie i see your photos. i think we should offer these options: tags
for people who already have accounts and login for people who don't.
